DESIGNER STATEMENT: Hey there! I’m Yassmin Raiszadeh. I’m a multifaceted creative individual with an utter fascination and curiosity for life which translates into my love for graphic design. I have a knack for typography and am motivated to create effective visual solutions that have a visceral impact. 

For my senior project, I decided to design and photograph a cookbook that showcases vegan Persian food. I created this cookbook in conjunction with my mom, Maryam Mortazavi. My mom's creative passion is cooking. Over the years, watching her make meals has made me realize that cooking is truly an intuitive creation process much like making art. She has developed what seems like hundreds of recipes over the years and has taught them to me. I really wanted to give her recipes the spotlight they deserve while also collaborating in the kitchen together. 

For the conception of this book, my mom and I sat down and created a list of foods that we thought are significant to Persian culture and began cooking together. Besides the recipes, it was important for me to educate readers of this book about Persian culture. The book also highlights ancient Persian celebrations as well as ancient and modern Persian poetry.
