ARTIST STATEMENT: Artist and Creatives often pull from what already exists as inspiration for their works β mythology being a common thread adapted on. Commonly Greek mythology and epic tales are taken and revived by artists into new and individual identities, taking the existing ones and making them more personable. My senior project focused on taking the same idea of adapting mythology into something more modern and personal, but through my relationship with Christianity. The bible is full of interesting story and mythos, for this senior project I focused on the war in heaven and the downfall of Lucifer. I intend to retell the story in a way that pulls away from being overly religious as I do not intend my work to be Christian art, rather I want to treat it the same as another religious mythos is treated β as story to be consumed.
For this senior project I have chosen to animate my own version of the war in heaven as I visualize it, focusing on the possible emotion rather than religious accuracy. The identities of Lucifer and the Archangel Michael are treated more as characters to be explored. This video shown is just a sequence story board of a section of the animation, to explore the direction and tone I want to explore further as the animation progresses.
