DESIGNER STATEMENT: Hello, my name is Sophia Rider and I’m a clever and motivated individual with a passion for visual design and digital illustration. Everything in the creative world is constantly changing and evolving, so I’m always striving to acquire better skills and learn new techniques. For my senior project, I wanted to explore perspectives by designing characters for other people, showcasing how character design can be utilized to gain a better understanding on the concept of self-image. Throughout this process I was able to observe how the type of relationship between the participants influenced the choices they made regarding how they wanted their characters designed. This was fun assignment that allowed me to showcase my illustration skills, and explore the basic elements of character design.
