ARTIST STATEMENT: I am a digital illustrator who creates blissful memories as pastel character designs and enjoys uplifting others with art that is accessible to all ages. The main reason I create these characters is to spark joy. My work encourages the idea that simple illustrations are memorable. My greatest inspiration is from Sanrio, the creators of Hello Kitty as they were an integral part of my childhood. When life hits a low turn, I like to walk in memory lane and revisit the things that brought joy to me as a child. It was always the softly drawn, simplicity of Sanrioβs animal characters that uplifted my day in the end. I feel that it is important to bring that sense of childhood innocence into the art world, and remind people that even as adults, weβre all children at heart. Something Iβve missed since Covid began was attending artist alley conventions and getting inspired by all the artworks I would see. Taking the current pandemic into account with its negative impact on mental health, I am creating my own convention booth that will be filled with a series of stickers and keychains dedicated to pastel color schemes to spread cheer. I am excited to recreate that art-filled experience and bring joy to those who have also missed going to artist alleys for fun.
