DESIGNER STATEMENT: University Drive: Sidewalk Edition is a 32-page comic book preluding University Drive, an in-progress graphic novel about the nuances of the college experience. In Sidewalk Edition, Sydney is a high school sophomore on a prospective student tour of Ridgeview University, a prestigious institution that is known for their notable academics, strong student community, and unmatched school spirit. On the tour, Sydney is accompanied by her friend, Alyssa, as well as Alyssa’s mom, who is an alumna of Ridgeview. On the tour, the students learn about Ridgeview from their tour guide, Devin, who describes the opportunities, student life, and programs available at the school. After the tour, both Sydney and Alyssa share excitement for potential acceptance and enrollment at Ridgeview in the years to come…
