BFA Painting

ARTIST STATEMENT: I am a BFA student at George Mason University, majoring in painting and minoring in art history. Though my focus is in painting, I use research, art history and other fields as a means to develop ideas. In my travels, I have seen thousands of paintings all over the world on my personal time in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, New York and Washington D.C.. In my abstract work I explore techniques that use visual anomalies that have similar visual effects to optical illusions to express the beauty and depth of the subjects and landscapes in my work. I specifically choose the materials that I use to push the visual impact as far as I can. These works deal with the attributions of loss and pain.
