Conjuring Presence:
An Aubade with Grain,
Gold, and Feather [excerpt]
[ Full poem available in Fenwick Gallery ]
Morning touches the cottage window.
We wake to the sound of cows grazing—
this idyllic pastoral.
We are learning to listen
to each other’s silences.
To ease the landscape
of the mind.
Two calves touch heads,
siblings whispering.
Their bellied songs hold us
where we are gazing.

Aloft, Caught, and Pause
“We talked about care. We talked about caring for the self, for others, for plants. Collective care.”
—Holly Mason Badra
“The image of the feather and flight became a central motif in these works, imagining something both fragile and strong, ephemeral, and grounding.”
— Deb Sivigny
