DESIGNER STATEMENT: This project is an informal, colorful look at one of my favorite subjects—ska music! I’m very passionate about this genre of music and feel like not enough people, who should know about it, actually do. My design for this book is in keeping with the high energy and good vibes of the music, and also the simplistic design philosophy that sometimes less is more. I wanted to make this book as accessible as possible for anyone to read, and not make it feel like some kind of an overly long scholarly essay on the subject.

As a graphic design student I feel this project is important because it helped loosen my design chops, whereas many of my designs are a little more corporate-feeling, this book let me break some of the rules we had learned about and just have a lot of fun while doing so.
