ARTIST STATEMENT: I am an illustrative artist who flows between both traditional and digital art. The mediums I used for my senior project are color pencils, watercolor, and India ink. Working with wet mediums gets me to work loosely compared with mediums that require me to rely on linework. The illustrations are on watercolor paper in watercolor and color pencils are being used to do minimal outlining. The India ink plays a role in the mood or atmosphere change. The artworks are mounted horizontally in a window panel format.

I specialize in drawing animals, especially in anthropomorphic characters. The focus on for my senior project is on how different anthropomorphic pairings experience forms of intimacy or love. I find it more interesting to work with inanimate objects rather than humans because drawing personified objects allows me play with their design to give them a potential personality and backstory. I tend to create character designs on a whim or base off designs from daily objects I look at. Growing up, films like The Land Before Time or The Last Unicorn were my main inspirations in my childhood. The anthropomorphic characters are a solid color sprit that is made up of different animal limbs. Each spirit has a different color streak on top of their nose bridge. The color on their nose bridge can indicate their soulmate.

The themes I like to portray is the life and death cycle. Characters would fall into the hands of a quiet or violent death. On the bright side to contrast that grim theme, I love to portray wholesome themes where characters living in the vast greenery land to have adventures. I just simply draw characters falling in love to spark joy.
