ARTIST STATEMENT: Baggage is a fictional work, and a graphic novel story based around a Celtic and Irish folkloric creature known as a selkie. The graphic novel places a twist on the classical selkie folktale of a human individual stealing the skin from the selkie, by portraying the return of a selkie skin by a human to a selkie. I am a digital artist and folklore enthusiast, and I focus many of my personal projects on character designs, world building, mythology and folktales. These interests cumulate into the work seen in this exhibition.  

I enjoy the process of creating characters and exploring different tales and myths of cultures around the world. I enjoy sharing these ideas and creations with other people around me. Overall, digital illustration the medium I choose to share stories and folktales with my audience. I hope my exhibition piece will spark an interest in folktales and mythology in everybody who sees my exhibition.
